Ahhhh, you quilters are the best!!

I can not express my thanks and appreciation for all of the prayers and good thoughts directed toward my family and me. I am overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and concern.  Thank you so very much.

I wanted to give you an update before I unplug and pack the computer. As of today we are still okay but are planning on leaving tomorrow.  Sink holes are beginning to appear in the roads on the north side of town, meaning that one of the major roads out of town has been shut down, seep water is starting to pool in certain parts of town, but the levy is holding.  The flood gate downtown has been reinforced and sandbagged.  The usual flood stage is at 32 feet...this morning the river was at 47.6.  The crest is to be 49.5 on Sunday.  There are National Guardsmen everywhere and town is virtually a ghost town. There are beginning to be reports of looting in certain parts town.  Mandatory evacuation is at 50 feet...the height of the flood gates. Out where we live, we are fine. We are taking what we can, the rest is up on top of other furniture and tables.  The other things are in God's hands.

Please keep us in your thought and prayers...especially my daughter.  She has finals next Tuesday and Thursday and she has been a little preoccupied with other things.

Love to you all and many heartfelt thanks!
Diana

  2. You will remain in our prayers. This is bound to be very difficult for you! Yes, this is certainly bound to be hard on your daughter. When you are safe and sound and with your parents, maybe she can relax a little!

  8. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and everyone living along the flood lines. People in our area (central Louisiana) are shoring up homes and moving pasture animals to higher ground in preparation for the high water that's supposed to move in within the next week or so. Please keep us posted (if you can) on your family and those in your area.
