Baby Girl Project

As most of you know from a past post, I was having a bit ( actually bunches) of trouble quilting a baby quilt.  Y'all gave me wonderful advice but I ended up putting it away due to taking my machine to the shop and the flooding possibility.  I decided that I don't think I like making baby quilts because I never get the quilt completed before the baby isn't much of a baby anymore.   The particular baby I was trying to make the quilt for was the first grandchild of a dear friend of mine and LaDonna's. I was apprehensive about making  her a quilt in the first place because her new aunt is a quilter.  She sends out all of her quilt tops to be professionally quilted.  I KNEW that I could not compare with that.  I have a big enough complex without setting myself  up with that! After I stewed for a while, I came up with the idea of an initial wall / door hanging.  This is what I came up with.......

I mailed it to the new grandparents as they were getting their chance to spoil the new baby  this weekend.  The baby girl is  over 4 months old now. ( See what I mean!)  I hope that it makes it and everyone likes it.

All for now!!!

  5. That's a great idea! Pretty fabric, too! I had one baby quilt for about eighteen years before I finished it and gave it to a completely different child.

  9. So soft and sweet. Girlie ribbon hanger. I can see it hanging on the wall above her night stand :)

  10. What a great idea! I bet that your baby quilt would have been cherished. It seems like the current trend is to have quilt tops finished professionally, but doesn't that lessen the quilt since it isn't done by the quilter herself? I've been away from the quilting world for a while, focused on weaving, and now it seems like most people don't quilt their own pieces now. I think that's a sad trend. I'd like to see your baby quilt made by you.
Sorry, I didn't mean to go on and on. I'll climb off my quilting soapbox :-)

  11. That is a cute wall hanging. Everyone loves to decorate their baby's room so this should really hit the spot.

  12. Aww Diana I love your wall hanging. But just know when you quilt for someone it is coming from the heart and happiness is homemade.
