Unsuccessul Stash Shopping

I really wanted to shop my stash for a little quilt I need to make.  I braved the sewing closet and took out tub after tub trying to find just the right fabric.  Nothing worked, nothing gave me that "ah, that's it!" feeling.  So off to the fabric store I go.  It took a while for me to find the right combination of fabrics that pleased me but I finally found them.

It's just for a very simple small quilt, alternating squares with a narrow and wide border.  The circles and confetti are the squares, followed by the green narrow border, dark blue wide border, and then the same green will the be binding.  The circles will also be the backing.  At least I can shop my batting and thread stash!

  2. Yeah---------using your thread stash that will work. Like the fabrics, especially the big dots. I have found if I shop my stash--------the new quilt just looks like all the old ones. What's a girl to do but go buy more fabric.

  3. I see "ah, that's it!" in these fabrics. Are you sure you didn't have anything at all in that stash?

It's funny how I can't find anything at all, go to the fabric store, and come back with something rather like a fabric in my stash!

But it's a well kept secret.....please don't inform my dear hubby. He believes me every time!

  5. I love the fabric combo also. Sometimes it's hard to shop your own fabric stash, there always seems to be ONE fabric missing in the combos you try out.

  12. Beautiful fabrics you picked out! While I like to shop from my stash, I notice I never pick out "groups" of fabric...so it's hard for me to do a coordinated quilt (that isn't multi scrap) from my stash.
