Here's the situation:
See these fabrics? They're busy, but there is contrast.
Unfortunately, when they are cut up into small pieces, the contrast gets lost. It's not a bad block, but compared to the other high contrast blocks, it just looks bad.
See where I've pinned the fabrics in the center of the block? I think it will look much better for the blocks to be made out of these pairings instead.
So, this means a trip to the shop tomorrow and much more sewing. Two steps forward and how many steps back?! But I think this will be better, especially for a shop sample.

Hahaha Well I did send you an email to try and encourage you but in the end if you are not happy with the result it will always bug you. Better to re-do now than to regret for ages later! And if this is going to be a shop sample you will have to see it everytime you go to the store and you better be happy about it!
ReplyDeleteSo,....happy re-stitching!
I don't consider my perfectionist by any means, but I have found that if something bothers me, I might just as well, take the seam out, change fabrics, start over, or whatever it takes to meet my own sense of doing it right.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like it, it is time to stop and rethink. Looks like you have done just that.
Don't be too hard on yourself, resewing is all part of our ongoing learning process. Tomorrow will. Betty Lou

I agree with you on this one. Sometimes imperfection is not okay. I think it is about doing our best and having contentment with it. If it irks, I gotta do something about it or I stall out.
ReplyDeleteI think you are doing great - I am sure a trip to the shop will make you feel much better. Nothing worse than somethig that bugs you so.
ReplyDeleteyour revised choice looks like a keeper! have fun at the shop!
