Hello 2011!

Happy New Year's Day!  I hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebration and I pray you have a happy and healthy 2011!

A lot of y'all have been extremely busy over the past three weeks!  I'm trying to catch up on my favorite blogs, my, I am quite impressed with all you have accomplished! There sure are some talented folks out there!

We are finally home and I’m almost recovered from all the traveling and visiting. Tony, the Scotties, and I went to central and west Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri over Christmas. That’s all a long way from south Texas! And a big difference in temperature too! I was wearing shorts and T-shirts before we left, but had to wear my winter coat, scarf, and gloves for “up south”! The Scotties experienced their first snow! I opened the door for them at my parents’ house and there was all this snow on the steps. They were very excited to go out, but both of them momentarily paused when they saw all that white stuff on the ground and then they were out running around! I think they liked it, but didn’t like how it clotted up between their feet pads. It was wonderful being with family and friends, but it’s also great to be home.

Here are some pictures from our Christmas:

The puppies love Brandon!

My in-laws making sausage balls

 and blonde brownies!  Yum!

 My little family!

Now that Christmas is over, I can finally show what I've been working on; everything had to be kept secret!  Here is a quilt and pillowcase I made for the little girl in our family. It is a flannel rag quilt that has fairies.  She loves fairies!

These are two commissioned quilts of my own design.  The technique I learned from the book, Layered Waves by Karen Eckmeier.  The front and back views are pictured.

While we were away, my sewing machine was getting some TLC from my local quilt shop/sewing machine repair shop.  (I wonder how many miles I have sewn!)  I feel so much better just picking it up today!

I have two commissioned quilts to make this year and I am already at work on one of them.  The blocks are all made and arranged on my design wall.  I'll start this week putting them together.  And then on to the next one!

Happy quilting! May God bless you and yours!

  1. Love that Country Santa photo - you just can't fake a beard that great! Love the quilts too - those commission ones are gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing the next two! Welcome home!

  2. Looks great ,LaDonna! I know, I know.....I,ve got to get my things up there also. There was a teacher at school who always said that the harder you work the "behinder" you get! I guess I had the crazy idea that once I retired, things would be different....HA!!!!! I think I am "behinder" now than I was when I was teaching!!!

  3. It looks like you had a great time with your family! Now I want some sausage balls!
