Some Silliness Out of Boredom
It's pretty boring deconstructing uniforms. You know how some people can peel an apple in one long string? Guess what?! I can do the same thing with the seams on the uniform! Anything to help the process, right? The main thing is I got all the green uniforms in one tub and all the desert ones in their tub! Deconstructing saves space! Yeah!

That's too funny!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a talent! Congrats on getting the boring project done and having fun at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThere must be a special award for deconstructing or maybe a speed contest. You are sure to win!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when a boring job is done?!! I sure do. :o)
ReplyDeleteYAY you!
Deborah
oh my that is to funny. what a great idea to deconstruct to save space!
ReplyDeletelololol :D
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! I thought it was a drawing at first. Looks a LOT like one my grandson did yesterday of "a bird with four legs".
ReplyDeleteI agree with the deconstructing being boring. How did you keep your mind busy? I like to buy wool garments at thrift shops to felt for wool projects...but first they must also be deconstructed before throwing in the washing machine. Ugh. I hate skirts with pleats...even though they are the ones with miles of gorgeous plaid wool!! I usually resort to it being a "TV" project...but it's summer and no good TV!!

Too funny! My (huge) family sends most of their old blue jeans to me and I have a ton (really!!)that need to be deconstructed - are you free any time soon??
ReplyDeleteWithout reading the explanation, my first thought on seeing the pic was that you'd been making some strange, abstract quilt art!
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy trawling through op' shops (Opportunity Shop - the Aussie equivelent of a thrift shop)- looking for interesting and quirky fabrics for craft projects.
Cheers from OZ - Kathy G
It always feels good when you finally get something boring done.

Hopefully a more fun project will come up soon.
ReplyDeleteSorry LaDonna, I've been out of pocket a bit and missed something. Why are you deconstructing uniforms?
ReplyDeleteWhen I deconstruct, I use scissors and cut the seam out....really close so I don't waste. Toss the seam away and fold up the fabric pieces. As long as the pieces will be cut up for a quilt and not resewn to wear, it works fine. And there's less frustration for the deconstructor (me).
What a nice blog and great to do it together and to share
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog--I found your fun blog. My grandma was a quilter, too, and I'm restoring several of her (very worn) quilts. I find it hilarious that you speak of "deconstructing" uniforms (great fabric by the way! lovely quilt that you made of uniforms). I get all my fabric from the flea market so I have spent a fair amount of time ripping apart (deconstructing) mostly shirts and skirts...resulting in a button collection and a labels collection. Waste not, want not, right?
