When LaDonna asked if I wanted to do the Farmer's Wife blocks, I shuddered. Paper piecing!! Gasp! I had never done any of that before. I panicked but once again after her pep talk, she talked me into it (something she has been able to do since she was born, by the way). I worked on the first block on Saturday between "MiMi, come here!" and mysterious crashes, bangs and thuds with sudden quiet and the rest of the "stuff" I got to do on the weekend. It took a bit to get my mind around it but I got the first one finished. Then I read LaDonna's post....What do you mean it was supposed to be the other way??? I am not doing it over. I was lucky to get it done the first time!!! Soooo, she showed you hers so I guess I'll show you mine.
As far as the other "stuff" for the weekend, she gets a featherweight while I "get" to shop for a new stove!!!!!

looks perfect to me...but then I dont even know what "paper piecing" is! LOL
ReplyDeleteAlls fair with sisters, at least you get a new stove Diana. She really lucked into that Featherweight didn't she. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I think your block is perfect. I didn't know you could paper piece FW, I thought they were all templates. Paper piecing I could handle, templates, I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! You are so funny Diane!! Your "blissful" sewing time, sounds like mine. I think you and LaDonna should make a deal...she makes some really cool potholders for you on her new featherweight (maybe a paper pieced Farmer's Wife block?) and you will make her a delicious something from your new stove!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it!

Your block is beautiful! I haven't paper pieced in years and am a bit afraid of it now. It's on my list of "to do's." Who will ever know if it is backwards?! I must look for this book so many are talking about. Happy Quilting!

Oh, well. Just wait a few years and maybe they'll come up with a way to combine stoves and sewing machines. Then you can cook while you sew! It seems like they combine everything else! You can watch TV on your phones, for instance!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fine to me. Watch out. Doing these blocks is addictive.
ReplyDeleteYour block looks fine. After all it will be your quilt so do what you want. I'm doing them too but didn't know they were paper pieced. I draw the pattern on EQ5 and then print up rotary cutting directions. I have about 16 blocks done. It is fun. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSupposed to be the other way??
ReplyDeleteYou two crack me up :D
Your blocks are lovely. Maybe the directions have their block the wrong way :)
Thank you for sharing your pictures.
Dreat block! Who cares which way it faces! That just makes your quilt more special! And a new stove......well, that has got to be good right?
ReplyDeleteWe are SO sisters! Look how we both fussy-cut a poinsettia in the center...and we didn't discuss that at all!
ReplyDeleteLaDonna
Let me guess....LaDonna is the older of the two, right? My older sister Angie could talk me into anything, also. Of course, she didn't mind letting her hands do some of the convincing! She slapped pretty hard, though not often: I didn't need a lot of convincing. We are best friends now and I do most of the convincing!
ReplyDeleteThe block looks great. Just rotate it a little and it will be in the right direction, or call this the right direction!
Your block turned out great!
ReplyDeleteYour block looks great to me too. I took a paper peicing class yesterday. Hope I do as well.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the blocks were paper pieced. I have this book on my wish list, too, along with the new Moda Bake Shop book (I think it's called Fun Fresh Treats) and the new Modern Log Cabin.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed seeing everyone's blocks in blogland, but I haven't seen one all put together. I can't wait to see yours!
I love your block. No one will know that it is sewn backwards. Just as long as you love it.
ReplyDeleteHugs
